The Prescribed Burn Rally Team will spend the long weekend preparing for Alberta’s Rocky Mountain Rally, taking place on May 23 and 24.
The Rocky Mountain Rally is the second event on the Canadian national circuit, and the first national rally for the Prescribed Burn Team this year.
The open ranchland roads outside of Calgary are the only Western Canadian stages that do not have reconnaissance, so teams are rallying blind with only with a provided notebook, and without practice runs on the stages.
Friday evening’s gravel and tarmac special stage at the Race City Speedway is an interesting new addition to the rally.
Last year’s Rocky was the first rally for Mark and Jennifer as a team. Despite car troubles there was good teamwork from the start, and they have been progressing ever since. By the next rally they enlisted a dedicated service crew that worked tirelessly on the car until it began to fi nish rallies early this year, placing in the top ten.
The Prescribed Burn Team will be rallying for similar results in the novice and national points races at the Rocky Mountain Rally, against very tough competition from Western Canada, Quebec and Ontario. They are eager to build on the fast pace set at last month’s Olympus Rally in Washington.
The team would like to thank and welcome the Kelowna Moving Centre and Wyatt Auto Parts as new sponsors, just in time for Rocky. The Rocky Mountain Rally is part of the national series that will be televised this fall.
The Prescribed Burn Rally Team is an Okanagan based performance rally team. Driver Mark Jennings-Bates and co-driver Jennifer Daly compete in an open class Subaru, with the help of service chief Dave Hood and a team of local volunteers.
For 2008 the Prescribed Burn Team will be running the entire Western Canadian Rally series, as well as select Canadian National and Rally America events.
The Prescribed Burn Rally Team is supported by BCResortHomes.com, Agar Paint & Autobody, BigO Tire Westbank, Wyatt Auto Parts, Kelowna Moving Centre, Provisiondata.com, Stacy Screen Print, Wishbone Industries, The Great Canadian Oil Change and Bell Racing.
