Police have released the name of the Rutland man shot to death earlier this week.

They say Robert William Kuusinen, 38, was killed Monday and that his landlord is the prime suspect.

"The accused, 69-year-old Frank Kainz, is the owner of the residence where the incident occurred and the victim was renting the basement suite at the time," says Constable Julie Rattee.

She says Kuusinen was residing in the basement suite at 535 Eastbourne Road with his wife and young son.

Reports say Kuusinen had moved into the suite about two months ago.

Kainz is charged with second degree murder and is due back in court Thursday.

It's Kelowna's first murder of the year.
