Parkview Crescent townhouse fire
by Wayne Moore - Story: 39324
May 13, 2008 / 5:26 pm

Quick action by one tenant helped keep damage to a minimum at a townhouse fire in the 1800 block of Parkview Crescent.

Kelowna Fire Department crews responded to the fire on the upper floor of the complex shortly after 3:30 p.m Tuesday.

Assistant Fire Chief, Bryan Collier, says first in crews were able to knock down the fire within two to three minutes of entry.

"An adult was alerted to the fire in a child's bedroom by the smoke alarm that was located outside the bedroom," says Collier.

"All occupants of the suite and adjoining suites were safely evacuated by the quick action of the mother."

Collier says it is believed an older electrical radio may have caused the fire.

He says there were no injuries.

"Damage is estimated at $100,000."
