A Kelowna man has been formally charged in connection with a homicide in Rutland.
Frank Kainz, 69, is facing a charge of second degree murder in the death of a 38-year-old man who suffered a fatal gunshot wound Monday morning.
Calls of shots fired were reported around 8:45 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Eastbourne Road in Rutland.
Constable Julie Rattee says Kainz was arrested shortly after police arrived at the scene.
“He resides in the house that police responded to, where they found the deceased man. The victim also lived in the house, but in a different suite,” says Rattee.
She says Kainz made his first appearance Tuesday morning and is expected to appear in court again on May 15.
The victim’s name has not yet been released as investigators are still notifying next of kin.
