The boil water notice for South East Kelowna Irrigation District water system users has been downgraded to a water quality advisory.
The Interior Health Authority says the average turbidity in the District’s surface water supply has averaged fewer than five NTUs over the past 24 hours.
“Residents in the Hall Road area receiving well water are not under any water quality alerts. Recent testing shows that current surface water quality is rated as fair under the IHA criteria for public notification,” says Toby Pike of the SEKID.
He says children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection should drink boiled water or a safe alternative.
“For these at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute. Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.”
