Madonna defends Britney

These two haven’t shared the same headline since their over hyped kiss on the MTV music awards in 2003. In a recent interview with UK’s Radio One, Madonna states that Britney has never really had a chance to grow up and make mistakes privately. I can agree with that to a certain point. But, c’mon Maddy, Brit’s made some colossal mistakes. I think there’s more to Brit’s madness than having to live her life in the public eye (though to be honest if it were me, I’d probably go wonky too). Either way, it seems that Britney is at least TRYING now. We’ll just have to wait and see, but of course we’ll be able to follow her every move, thanks to the paps. Story here:

Mariah and Nick Separating Already?

Huge rumor alert: Newlyweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon (now known simply as Caca – get it – Carey/Cannon) were seen last night getting into separate cars. I know this is pure speculation, but what kind of couple, especially newlyweds, doesn’t get into the same car? Weird. See for yourself:

Erik. Dumbest. Survivor. Ever.

Last week, Amanda proved to be one of the greatest Survivors of all time. Last night, Erik stupidly gave up the immunity necklace only to be voted out by each member of the remaining tribe. He now officially takes James’ title of Dumbest Survivor Move Ever. Erik was obviously thinking with the wrong head.

Don’t forget to watch the finale on Sunday evening! I’m sure it will be either Amanda or Parvati walking away with the million.

In other Survivor news, Jeff Probst is back for at least 4 more seasons. Wow. Survivor will just keep going, and going, and going…

Lindsay Sings. Better Than Scarlett, Too.

LiLo is back in the studio for another album, her third. I didn’t know she even had two already, though I am aware of one. Her Rumors single was actually quite the good club banger. Anyway, her new single, Bossy, is here for you to listen to. It’s produced and written by Ne-Yo, and is not bad, not great either, but much better than Scarlett Johansson’s recent foray into the music biz. Listen here:

Justin Timberlake Reality Show a Reality

JT has joined MTV in hosting a reality show called The Phone. The show’s premise has contestants race around some of the U.S.’s major cities in search of cash prizes. I first heard about this concept several years ago, and was wondering what had happened to it. It’s going to happen, and the hype is pretty big. Should be worth a look at least. Read more here:

This Weekend at the Movies

Two big movies open this week, Speed Racer and What Happens In Vegas. Both haven’t been receiving the greatest reviews, but What Happens has fared better so far with critics.

Speed Racer’s demographic appears to be quite narrow, appealing mostly to younger teenage boys. But because it is getting such a huge opening (showing in over 3600 locations), it’s expected to pull in between 30 and 35 million this weekend. Motion sickness alert – the race sequences are supposed to be very fast, very colorful, and headache inducing. You may want to watch for that if you’re taking your kids.

Romantic comedies can usually count on a 15 million dollar opening, but the draw of Cameron Diaz (Ashton Kutcher’s presence can either be a hindrance or a positive, not sure about him) should bring What Happens In Vegas closer to 20 million. Iron Man should keep hold of the #1 spot, and still see close to 40 million.

Last Night’s TV Ratings (source: zap2it.com)

CBS grabbed the lead at 8 p.m. with "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," 7.7/13. ABC's "Ugly Betty" drew a 5.6/9 to take second, beating "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" on FOX. "My Name Is Earl," 4.1/7, and the finale of "Scrubs," 3.7/6, put NBC in fourth, while "Smallville" delivered a 2.5/4 for The CW.

The back half of a "CSI"-"Two and a Half Men" writer crossover scored an 11.2/17 for CBS at 9 p.m. "Grey's Anatomy," 10.4/16, improved a touch over last week and kept ABC in second. There was a big drop to third-place NBC, which featured "The Office," 4.7/7, and the season finale of "30 Rock," 3.6/6. "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 3.9/6, was fourth for FOX. "Supernatural" finished the night for The CW.

"Without a Trace" posted a 9.7/16 -- up substantially from last week -- for CBS at 10 p.m. "Lost," 7.0/12, held onto second for ABC. "ER" drew a 5.3/9 for NBC.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms! A special Happy Mother’s Day wish to Mama Shirley and Mama Judy.
