Revving your motorcycle may be worse for the air than revving your car.

Kelowna air quality coordinator, Corey Davis, has told local regional directors, unless that bike is brand-new, it's probably spewing more bad stuff into the air than a car does.

In fact, he believes the pollution factor for motorbikes versus cars is four to one.

He says that Canada, unlike some U.S. jurisdictions, does not formally regulate exhaust emissions for motorcycles.

Davis says Honda and some other manufacturers have recently moved to the tough California emission standards, but most motorcycles are still serious polluters.

More and more motorcycles are visible on our local streets and highways, as the weather improves and the gas prices continue to soar.
