A number of Okanagan College trades and engineering students who display a financial need are going to get some help in paying for their education this coming fall.

The Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust is giving the College nearly $250,000 to create a tuition credit program for select trades training students and $80,000 for the five engineering technology programs and the computer information systems program.

Entry-level students can qualify for up to $1,000. First-year apprentices can access up to $500, depending on their financial status and eligible engineering/computer students will get $1,000.

A free information night on the aid program is being held May 27 at Kelowna's KLO campus.
