Idol Slumps to Worst Ratings of Season
Last night’s airing of American Idol pulled in 21.25 million viewers - most shows would kill for those numbers. For Idol though, it represents their lowest Tuesday ratings of the season (they’re usually closer to 30 mil). Many theories can be thrown around as to the reasons for the low numbers, but I think it simply boils down to a collectively weak top 4. David Cook is the only contestant that I can see having a career, though last night Syesha certainly improved her chances with a great showing in both the looks and acting departments.
David Cook was really bad for the first time in months with Hungry like the Wolf, but returned to form with Baba O’Reilly. He’s safe.
Muppet Boy Jason Castro was his usual awful self with I Shot the Sheriff, and although he flubbed the words to Mr. Tambourine Man, I thought he redeemed himself quite well at the end. Not enough to spare him from the judges’ wrath, however. He still may survive, though rumors of Idol Producers wanting him gone may spell his doom tonight.
Syesha looked incredible last night. I thought her Proud Mary wasn’t nearly Tina quality, but she got the legs thing down! Anyway, after Randy’s criticism for A Change is Gonna Come, Syesha broke down and cried her eyes out, comparing her plight on Idol to the Civil Rights Movement. Was it a case of getting caught up in the moment, or pure, premeditated calculation? Nobody knows, though many in the blogosphere today are suggesting it was an act. Either way, she came across as genuine and it may just put her into the Final Three.
David Archuleta, a guy who I’ve been doggin’ on for the last month, really shined last night, on both songs. Stand By Me was pitch-perfect and strong, and even Love Me Tender came off very well. I think this was his best showing since his rendition of Imagine, and he really impressed me. I still can’t see him with a recording career, but maybe in time my mind will change.
No, no, no! Not again! Winehouse Arrested
These Amy Winehouse arrests are becoming all too frequent lately. Man, this $#!& just writes itself. Read more here:

Dina Lohan: Best Mother is to Paris Hilton: Best Actress
This week’s (and instant contender for this year) winner in the You-Gotta-Be-Kidding-Me department is Dina Lohan’s win of a Mother of the Year charity event in Long Island last night. Say what? DiLo may be no Joan Crawford, but she sure shouldn’t be commended for her motherin’ skills. Incidentally, Dina skipped a court-ordered marital counseling session to attend the awards ceremony.
Biggest Opening in Entertainment History!
Nope, not Iron Man. Bigger than any movie opening in history. This one’s a game. Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV, which was released April 29th, pulled in 500 million dollars in its first week. 500 million! This blitzes the previous titleholder, Halo 3, which grossed 300 million on the first week of release. This just goes to prove the gaming industry isn’t going anywhere, and may be a much bigger part of our entertainment future.
Pam and Tommy Lee Round 74?
I lost count how often Pam and Tommy Lee have broken up and quickly reunited. This definitely falls under the rumour category, but the two were spotted being rather touchy with each other at a community baseball diamond yesterday. She can try to fool everyone by marrying other goofballs, but it seems painfully obvious where Pammy’s heart is (though it’s kinda hidden by lots of silicone). Check out the video:

Last Night’s TV Ratings (source: zap2it.com)
"American Idol" posted a 12.5/20 at 8 p.m. its 21.25 million viewers were the smallest for a Tuesday installment of the show this season. CBS took second for the hour with "NCIS," 8.8/14. A "Dancing with the Stars" special marking the 100th episode drew a 7.2/11 for ABC. "Most Outrageous Moments," 2.7/4, put NBC in fourth, ahead of "Beauty and the Geek" on The CW.
ABC took the overall lead at 9 p.m. with the "Dancing with the Stars" results show, 12.0/18. CBS' "Shark" was second in households at 6.8/10, but "Hell's Kitchen," 6.7/10, brought more viewers to FOX (and led the hour in adults 18-49). A "Law & Order: SVU" rerun on NBC came in fourth. "Reaper" scored a 1.6/2 for The CW.
A new "Law & Order: SVU" delivered a 7.0/12 for NBC at 10 p.m., good enough to win the hour over "Women's Murder Club," 6.1/10, on ABC. A "CSI: Miami" rerun posted a 5.2/9 for CBS.
Not much on the tube tonight, though we’ll be whipping through the bloated Idol results show on the PVR to find out if Jason Castro has seen his last ugly performance. Now if they can only get rid of the fan call-in segment - what a huge waste of time!
