I’ll get this out of the way first: Tom Cruise is a great actor. He was robbed of three Oscars – for performances in Born on the Forth of July, Rain Man and Magnolia. I will argue to the death with anyone who believes that Dustin Hoffman was better in Rain Man than TC. Tom Cruise MADE that movie. He also gave the performance of his career in Magnolia, one of my fave movies of all time. BUT, Tom does enough lovin’ of himself (I’ll spare the easy joke here) for all of us with the release of his new website, www.tomcruise.com. This smacks of ego, ego, ego, with just a slight hint of sharp cheese. I know it’s an attempt at serious damage control, but I think it’s taking things a tad too far. Just get back to making a good movie and maybe people will forgive your personality quirks.
Brit Gets More Time With Kids
Things seem to be looking up for Brit Brit. A court decision in the ongoing custody hearings with K-Fed is allowing Britney more time with her kids. K-Fed maintains custody, and there was only a slight modification to the custody order. Sources close to the custody case have told gossip site TMZ that Britney will get three supervised visitation days per week.
Shyamlama-dingdong?
M. Night Shyamalan, who has been in somewhat of a slump lately, tells the Associated Press that his new film, The Happening, starring Marky Mark Wahlberg, is an extremely scary movie that is meant to scare you. It opens June 13th, and will hopefully bring him back into the box office and Hollywood limelight. His last two films, Lady in the Water and The Village both failed commercially and critically (The Village, for me, was one of the worst films of that year). Having such a great start out of the gate with masterpieces like the Sixth Sense and Signs, I’m hoping The Happening will bring back the Night we came to know and love. Read more here:

Amy Winehouse – No Bond For You!
Extremely troubled British rocker Amy Winehouse, who reportedly had been selected to record the theme for the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. She was also to appear in a cameo role in the film singing the song in a nightclub, but may be unable to do so. Her producer, Mark Ronson, told a British interviewer on Friday that, while he and Winehouse "did work on it, we never finished it. ... I'm not sure she's ready to work on music yet." Not ready to work on music yet? How bad does your life have to be when you can’t work on music? Don’t you think countless numbers of bands have recorded much of their music while super high? I’m concerned about Amy. She’s super talented, it would be a shame for a voice like that to go to waste.
CSI Breathes Life into 2 ½ Men – Whoda Thunk It?
Last night, Mrs. Showbiz and I, for the sake of our readers, sat down to watch Two and a Half Men, a show we don’t like. Gotta admit – the CSI writers did a great job with last night’s episode! The Marg Halgenberger look-alike/imitation was great, and the show just seemed to be very alive. Props to the CSI team for showing a really good sense of humor. And it’s always nice seeing Jenny McCarthy. Curious what “work” Robert Wagner has had done on him, because he’s looking rather strange.
How I Have Yet To Meet Your Mother, Growing Tired
I love HIMYM. It’s a great show. But I beg of you, Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, for the love of all things holy, PLEASE give us at least a clue as to who the bloody hell the mother is already. Since the writers strike, the show has been hit and miss, though I’m sure it will be back to HIT when BRIT graces the show next Monday.
Jennies From The Block
She may be single and lonely, but Jennifer Aniston took some time to sunbathe with her “Friends”. I respect Angelina, but gotta say: Angelina, eat your heart out.
Mrs. Showbiz here: Yes, Jen looks fab in a bikini, but as I said to Doc Showbiz, what else does she have to do in her spare time but work out and look good? I know, I know – MEEE-OW!

MTV Movie Award Nominees Announced – Chosen by 15 year olds
Sure, Superbad was a good movie. Not nearly as good as Knocked Up, or even as good as many claim it to be. I wasn’t really McLovin’ it. But Superbad leads in MTV Movie Award nominations. Of the six movies nominated for Best Picture, it’s the second best of the list. But still. At least one of the year’s very best films, Juno, is getting the respect it deserves. Here’s the rundown:
"Superbad" and "Juno" are both nominated for best movie along with "Transformers," "I Am Legend" and the sequels "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
In addition to the bed movie nod, "Superbad" earned nominations for Jonah Hill for both best comedic performance and breakthrough performance, where he'll have to go against co-stars Christopher "McLovin'" Mintz-Plasse and Cera.
Cera is also nominated for best male performance for "Juno," where his competition includes industry heavyweights Will Smith ("I Am Legend"), Matt Damon ("The Bourne Ultimatum"), Denzel Washington ("American Gangster") and Shia LaBeouf ("Transformers").
"Juno" star Ellen Page is up for best female performance, going against Keira Knightley ("Pirate of the Caribbean: At World's End"), Katherine Heigl ("Knocked Up"), Amy Adams ("Enchanted") and, for some strange reason, Jessica Biel for "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry".
Page and Cera are up for best kiss as well, going against liplocks from "Disturbia," "Enchanted," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Step Up 2 The Streets."
Last night’s TV Ratings (source: zap2it.com)
"Dancing with the Stars" dominated the 8 p.m. hour with an 11.4/19. FOX was a distant second with "Bones," 5.1/8. The CW got a 1.6/3 from "Gossip Girl."
ABC held the overall lead at 9 p.m. with "Dancing," 12.3/18, and "Samantha Who?," 7.1/11. "House" scored an 8.2/12 for FOX (and led the hour in adults 18-49). "Two and a Half Men," 8.5/13, and "Rules of Engagement," 6.6/10, kept CBS ahead of NBC and another hour of "Deal or No Deal," 5.7/9. "One Tree Hill" held steady for The CW.
