The Lakeview Diamond Mine in Osoyoos has completed stabilization and reclamation work on time and under budget.
Minister of State for Mining, Kevin Kreuger, was on hand to make the announcement.
Kreuger says the mine cost $200,000 less than the $1.5 million budgeted.
There was concern about the safety of people visiting the site, so engineering consultants were hired to stabilize and reclaim the mine site without disturbing the underground tunnels.
The gold mine was discovered in 1898 and operated occasionally until 1940, and then it closed in 1969.
