Some East Kelowna residents are having to boil their water until further notice.
The Interior Health Authority issued a boil water notice early Tuesday morning.
It says the notice affects all customers who get their water from the South East Kelowna Irrigation District, with the exception of residents in the Hall Road area who use well water.
Officials say the boil notice is the result of turbidity from the snow pack runoff.
"Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute. Boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device."
The South East Kelowna Irrigation District says that it's maintaining disinfection throughout the distribution system and recent tests show low microbial levels in the raw water supply.
Kelowna residents unsure of who their water supplier is can go to kjwc.org and use the “who is my water supplier” tool.
