It took a long time, but an Okanagan winery will be making an Icewine with the Rolling Stones.

Ex Nihilo Vineyards, located in Okanagan Centre near the Arrow Lake Cellars winery, will be producing a limited release of an Icewine to be called, ‘Sympathy for the Devil.’

Decoa Harder of Ex Nihilo, says they started talking with Mick and the boys almost three years ago to start planning the product.

“We approached them, as this was a unique product they didn’t have in their portfolio and they are all wine advocates and enjoy fine wines,” says Harder.

She says the nature of Icewine means the product will have limited availability.

“Icewine is not something you can turn on and off and we want to make sure the product is premium. We are making just 222 cases of the Icewine and each bottle will be numbered and come with a collectors book.”

Harder says the Icewine will be released May 1, about the same time Nihilo releases it’s own brand label.

“It will be our first product launch because we are a new winery. We will be releasing 500 cases of a Riesling and 100 cases of a Merlot.”

The Icewine will feature the classic Rolling Stones logo and will sell for $125 a bottle.
