There are not a lot of burger joints in the Central Okanagan where you can stand and choose from more than 30 gourmet toppings to build your own custom burger that will elevate your burger experience. Sure, you’ll have your favourites, but at South Street Burger, no two burgers need ever to be the same. The combinations are seemingly endless.

There are not a lot of burger joints in the Central Okanagan that offer fresh, hand-cut french fries, hand-scooped milkshakes, ooey gooey yummy poutine, Signature Burgers, crispy onion rings and use Canadian Angus beef raised without the use of antibiotics, hormones, fillers and steroids.

There are not a lot of burger joints in the Central Okanagan that are located right across from one of the most popular beaches in the entire region and locally owned and operated by a long-time residing Okanagan family.

Those are just three reasons why Kelowna’s South Street Burger is a must-visit for those who love to make their burgers just the way they like them. The combination of flavour, choice and location is what makes the new restaurant stand out from the rest.

South Street Burger is perfectly located in The Shore at 3477 Lakeshore Rd., the new six-storey, mixed-use building across the street from Gyro Beach. It is just a few minutes walking distance from local schools, making it a great lunch destination.

“It’s a different vibe, especially where we are in town,” South Street Burger’s Baljit Deol says. “You grab your meal, you sit down, get your drink of choice—whether it's a nice, cold brew or even a milkshake—all while being right across the street from the beach. You truly can't beat that.”

Enjoying the beach while tanning, swimming and people-watching can make a person hungry, which makes Kelowna's South Street Burger the ideal location. It’s also a great lunch spot for those who work up an appetite while shopping at nearby Pandosy Village.

When you get right down to it, however, the restaurant is all about those who love a great burger. South Street Burger uses fresh beef and lets you put as many of its 30-plus free topping choices on your burger. Then there is the signature sauce, which makes your already fantastic creation even more delectable.

“It’s kind of like a chipotle mayo,” Deol says. “It’s got a little bit of zing to it, and it’s really good. That’s something that separates us. We have that signature sauce that we make fresh. All the ingredients, we put in ourselves.”

South Street Burger also offers gluten-free buns and five ounce halal patties for those with allergies and religious beliefs, respectively, using separate utensils to ensure everyone’s order is exactly how they want it.

And it doesn’t serve only beef, either. The standard menu offers a combination of five signature burgers made with either beef, chicken or even a Lightlife burger catering to vegans. You can even customize any of the signature burger patties with your choice of beef, chicken, Halal or vegetarian patty. Deol’s favourite menu item is the southern fried chicken burger, which she says has crispness “I just feel you can’t get at the other places.”

South Street Burger also has a patio for those who like to eat alfresco. It’s licensed for those who enjoy an adult beverage with friends and family, all while enjoying the incredible views of Gyro Beach. South Street Burger also offers free Wi-Fi, which you can use to join their Birthday Club, whose membership gets you a buy-one-get-one-free voucher on your birthday. Click here to join now.

For those that prefer to eat in the comfort of their own homes, South Street Burgers is available on Uber Eats, Skip the Dishes and Door Dash.

If all of that isn’t enough to get your tastebuds moving, South Street Burger Kelowna is celebrating its first anniversary this weekend, when they will be kicking off a contest for a grand prize of a burger, fries and drink for an entire year through its biggest giveaway ever. There will be one grand prize winner, and five more entrants will win a voucher for a free burger.

There are three ways to enter the contest until Sept. 30: via Castanet or through South Street Burger's Facebook or Instagram pages.
