Kelowna RCMP were called to University of British Columbia Kelowna campus to investigate "suspicious objects" Friday afternoon.

Two PVC pipes, 30 cm long and 7 cm in diameter, were found with their ends sealed.

As a precaution, the portables near the gymnasium were evacuated and the bomb squad was called up from the lower mainland.

The bomb squad detonated the pipes finding them filled only with earth and sand.

RCMP say they are still investigating but are asking anyone with information to come forward.
