They’ve struck again.
Robbers who struck three businesses in the Okanagan since Friday are being attributed with a fourth and fifth armed robbery in Vernon.
Vernon RCMP are searching for two men who robbed the Subway restaurant in the 3100 block of Highway 6 and the Scotia Bank in the 3200 block of 30th Avenue just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Staff Sergeant Cam Percy says the two men entered the Subway just after 3:30 Monday, and one of them produced a firearm and demanded the money in the till.
“An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. The two men departed on foot,” says Percy.
He says the robbery at the Scotia Bank followed a similar pattern.
"Two men entered the bank, and one of them approached a teller, produced a hand-gun, and demanded cash. The men left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money."
Percy says investigators suspect these offences may be related to similar robberies that have taken place in Kelowna and Penticton over the past several days.
“Video surveillance images have been obtained and will be released in order to assist in identifying the suspects.”
In Kelowna, RCMP say two men entered the Subway Restaurant on Leckie Road just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday and demanded money. Also Saturday, two men robbed the Liquor Depot Store on Highway 97. A handgun was produced and the men fled with cash and a bottle of liquor.
On Friday, March 21, the Scotia Bank in Penticton was robbed by two Caucasian men. It is believed one produced a handgun before they fled with cash.
Surveillance footage showing the suspects at the Liquor Depot robbery has been released.
The footage shows the two suspects entering the store separately just after 8:30 p.m.
One man can be seen stamping out a cigarette on the ground just before entering the store. The other appears to speak to someone inside the store just after he enters.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1: Caucasian, 6' tall, medium build, short dirty blonde hair, clean-shaven, late 20's, wearing a long-sleeve button-up shirt.
Suspect #2: Caucasian, 5'10" tall, short hair - darker than suspect #1, medium build, early 20's, wearing blue jeans and a grey or brown zip-up sweater.
Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP.
