Registration is now open for the Vernon Figure Skating Club's 2022-23 season.

The VFSC offers a wide range of skating programs for all ages providing the training needed to progress in skating.

Instruction includes everything from learning to skate to competitive skating.

The VFSC can also guide figure skaters, hockey and ringette players looking to accelerate their skills through a variety of courses.

CANSkate is a learn-to-skate program for boys and girls with a focus on fun, participation and basic skill development.

Assisted by trained program assistants, professional coaches help skaters improve their basic skills, whether their focus is figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating or just skating for fun.

CANPower is a power-skating program geared to hockey and ringette players that focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. Skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive format that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations. The program provides an alternative to figure skating and is an excellent complement for those athletes playing hockey or ringette.

Teen Plus Skate is a program for skaters of all abilities. Each session will include a focus on power, agility and balance and the opportunity to get assistance from a coach. This is a perfect program for teen and adult skaters who want to try figure skating, improve their skating skills or just get out on the ice.

Synchro or Synchronized Skating is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow.

“Whether you are trying figure skating for the first time, looking to develop your skills or are an experienced skater hoping to compete, Vernon Figure Skating has the program that will help you achieve your goals both on and off the ice,” the club said in a release of the STARSkate – Primary, Intermediate, Senior, Competitive program. “As a Skate Canada club we are proud to offer the STARSkate program for all levels of figure skaters.”
