Police appeal to hit and run driver

Vernon RCMP are appealing to the person responsible to come forward.

Nearly a week after a deadly hit and run on 27th Avenue and Okanagan Landing Road claimed the life of an 83-year-old Vernon man, police are no closer to making an arrest.

Gord Molendyk of the Vernon RCMP says Cormie MacArthur died after being struck by a vehicle around 3:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

"Investigations like this take time. It takes time to gather evidence," says Molendyk.

He says they have identified the vehicle and determined that the registered owner was not the person driving when MacArthur was hit.

Molendyk says they have not yet spoken to the person they believe was driving the vehicle at the time.

"We are sure the driver was a male, but we have no direct evidence so we can't get a warrant."
