Nearly 100 jobs will be lost in Penticton following the announced closure of a manufacturing plant.

Canwood Furniture announced Friday it plans to stop operations this summer, costing 91 employees their jobs.

Canwood president, Mel Kemp, said in a news release the plant will close in mid-July, due mainly to turmoil in the industry and labour shortages.

He says the company has been unable to meet demand or achieve break-even levels for the last eight months.

Canwood Furniture, located on Timmins Avenue, produces pine furniture.
