Surrey animal shelter throws 'pitty party' for dog in the shelter for more than a year

'Pitty party' thrown for dog

A German shepherd-cattle dog had a party at her shelter last week, but it wasn't just any party.

The Surrey Animal Resource Centre threw what they are calling a 'pitty party' for Emma who has been at the shelter for over a year.

Emma is the first dog in seven years to have been waiting for her forever home for over one year.

The spayed, five-year-old female has called the shelter home since Aug. 1, 2021.

"Today staff are celebrating her to let her know just how special she is. We will be posting photos and videos of the shelter animals celebrating throughout the day. Emma wants to share her special day with all the shelter animals waiting for homes and asks everyone to consider adopting or donating today in her honour," the shelter posted to Facebook.

Staff celebrated the day with cakes, party hats and toys.
