Kelowna RCMP have released the name of a Kelowna cyclist killed in Rutland Wednesday evening.
Patrick Robinson, 55, died as a result of injuries he sustained when hit by a car while riding across Highway 33 at Prior Road.
The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 when a car heading westbound along Highway 33 struck Robinson's bicycle.
The driver of the car, an unidentified 27-year-old Lake Country man fled the scene. He was apprehended a few blocks away.
The man did not have a valid driver's licence at the time of the accident and has been charged with driving while prohibited, criminal negligence causing death and leaving the scene of an accident.
RCMP continue to ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
