A public meeting is being held for residents using six of the eight water systems run by the Regional District of the Central Okanagan.
The meeting takes place Wednesday, February 20 at the Lakeview Heights Baptist Church.
Communication coordinator, Bruce Smith, says the meeting is a chance for customers to learn more about the program to replace water meters for those with older Terasen ones and install meters for properties that are not presently metered.
“Customers of the Sunnyside and Green Bay, Pritchard, West Kelowna, Trepanier and Sunset Ranch water systems have been sent a letter inviting them to the session and providing some answers to questions that are frequently asked about the program,” says Smith.
He says booklets will be distributed on an area by area basis to individual homes and once they receive this information, residents will be able to schedule an appointment to have their meter installed.
“The Westside Joint Water Committee, representing the major water purveyors on the Westside, believes a metering program will result in a fair and equitable payment system, providing customers with more control over their water consumption through reduced use and conservation practices, while reducing the cost of infrastructure and repairs.”
The meeting runs from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
