A new treatment centre for women is opening in the Central Okanagan.
The Crossroads Treatment Centre in Kelowna has opened a 23-bed facility on Gray Road.
Administrator assistant, Darlene Abraham, says the facility will increase the number of treatment beds currently available.
“This increases the number of current women’s treatment beds by two, from the previous 21, and creates additional beds for Supportive Living and Withdrawal Management (Detox). Specifically, there will be an additional seven Withdrawal Management beds and six more Supportive Living beds. Men’s Intensive Residential Treatment beds will also be increased by four,” says Abraham.
She says there was no government funding for the project.
“It was only made possible by a grant from the Real Estate Foundation of BC of $232,500 and many businesses and community members including the Thomas Budd Foundation, Aquassure, Mara Lumber, Flooring Canada and Home Depot.”
There will be an Open House at the new facility and all members of the public are invited to attend on January 28 from 1 - 5 p.m. at 265 Gray Road.
