The search is wrapping up at Big White following an avalanche Sunday morning.
Vice president of Operations, Michael Ballingall, says teams spent the day searching the Parachute Bowl to make sure no one was still trapped in the snow.
“We thought there may have been two people missing, but they have been since been located at the resort. One person is still unaccounted for, but we believe he may be in the resort as well,” says Ballingall.
He says they have no credible information to suggest the 21-year-old snowboarder was on the slope at the time of the avalanche, however, they aren’t taking chances.
“The dog search teams will continue until it gets dark and then if he hasn’t been accounted for, they will continue at first light.”
Ballingall says Sunday’s avalanche could have been tragic, but it looks like it may end on a good note with no serious injuries.
