Vernon RCMP are looking for witnesses to what they call a "suspicious occurrence with a youth."

The incident took place about 3:45 Wednesday afternoon when a young boy, walking home from a friend's house, was approached by a male in his 20's.

"The boy was walking in the Tassie Drive area of Coldstream when he says a red car, possibly a Mazda or Toyota four door type, drove up and stopped. A white male in his 20's with longer blond hair, a mustache and glasses with a grey and black jacket approached him," says RCMP spokesman, Gordon Molendyk.

He says the boy ran and hid in the bushes. The man got back in his car and left.

"Nothing was said to the boy."

Molendyk says the boy ran home and told his parents who called police.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the event to contact them at 545-7171.
