Kelowna RCMP are investigating what they term a suspicious death after a body was found in the Mill Creek area behind the Parkinson Rec Centre.
The discovery was made Thursday evening.
"At this time, the circumstances are suspicious and subsequently the Serious Crime Section is being utilized to investigate," says RCMP Constable, Julie Rattee. "The Forensic Identification Unit also attended to assist in the investigation, as well as the BC Coroner’s Service."
Rattee says police are not releasing any more information, including the sex or age of the individual, due to the sensitive nature of this investigation and to avoid jeopardizing potential investigative means.
"The Kelowna RCMP would like to remind the public that they do not feel that there is any increased risk to public safety as a result of this event."
She says further details will be provided as soon as the investigation allows.
