A documentary produced by a Kelowna man about the North American drug industry continues to receive critical acclaim.
The feature length documentary, 'The Union,' was honoured with Best Editing at the recent Rhode Island Film Festival. This on the heels of winning Best Documentary at the Winnipeg International Film Festival.
Executive Producer, Adam Scorgie, says the film has been picked up by 10 other festivals, including the prestigious Vancouver International Film Festival in October.
"Vancouver is one of the top 10 festivals in the world, and they are actually going to show our film twice which is unusual for a documentary," says Scorgie.
He says 'The Union' will be screened Wednesday evening October 10 and Thursday afternoon October 11.
"We are also making a submission to the Okanagan Film Festival so hopefully people that don't get a chance to see it in Vancouver can have a chance to see the film."
The Okanagan Festival takes place in April of 2008.
Meantime, Scorgie hopes the attention his film has already received will pay off with a distribution deal.
He says they have the film in the hands of a few distributors, including Lions Gate Films, one of the largest independent film distributors based in Vancouver.
Scorgie says he is also looking at the possibility of releasing the documentary as a pay-per-view special on HBO.
