Simpson Society To Court

The "Save the Heritage of the Simpson Covenant Society" is taking further action to ensure the City of Kelowna can't remove the 60-year old agreement from lake front property and the lands City Hall and the Memorial Arena sit on.

Kelowna council voted to remove the covenant and has re-zoned the waterfront lands in question to P-3 or parkland.

Sharron Simpson, the grand-daughter of the man who initially put the covenant on the land, told the CKOV morning talk show, the society is now using the Courts to stop the city's move.

The Society has also replaced the caveat on the property it had initially filed, with a certificate of pending litigation against the title, so the City can't remove the covenant until the court has dealt with the matter.
