Kelowna based "Braintrust Canada" has launched a social marketing campaign aimed at the highest risk group for brain injuries.
'Protect Your Head' focuses on the results of suffering brain injuries.
Braintrust Canada Marketing Manager, Magda Kapp, says males between the age of 16 and 24 statistically suffer roughly 50 percent of all brain injuries.
"A lot of those injuries are from motor vehicle crashes, some alcohol related some not, some are sports related and some are assault related. A lot of it is just risky behavior that males in that target age group are exhibiting," says Kapp.
The multi-media campaign features a website created by Kelowna based Artistech Newmedia.
Kapp says the idea is to get people to think ---- to become aware.
"Maybe you won't be able to work again. Only about 4% of people with brain injuries go back to work. Some of these things that people don't necessarily think about we're trying to get them to think about. It's really just an awareness tool."
The site features interactive simulators that demonstrate what everyday social situations are like after one suffers a brain injury.
It is located at www.protectyourhead.com.
