Three properties near Quesnel under an evacuation alert

Evacuation alert issued

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has issued an evacuation alert for three properties on Garvin Road, 30 kilometres southeast of Quesnel.

The alert, which came into effect Friday afternoon (July 3), means residents should be prepared to leave at a moment's notice.

The properties are located near the Quesnel River.

Flood warnings remain in place for the Cariboo region; the River Forecast Centre is predicting another peak in river levels in the Cariboo Chilcotin after the weekend. This comes after days of rain, warm weather and the ongoing snowmelt.

Residents in the CRD are asked to register for the emergency notification system so they can receive a text, call or email regarding evacuation alerts and orders concerning their area. (You can sign up here.)

To report flooding or landslides, call the CRD's emergency information line at 1-866-759-4977.
