Kelowna RCMP have eight people in custody following a major bust at a well known rural property.
The investigation began on March 20 when Kelowna RCMP arrested two men, 46 and 38, in a vehicle near a known drug house on Richter Street in Kelowna. The two suspects were in possession of crack cocaine and a large amount of cash. One of the suspects is a member of an organized crime group called the Independent Soldiers.
As a result of the arrests, police executed a search warrant at a rural property in the 4400 block of June Springs Road -- the former Myra Canyon Ranch where six people were taken into custody -- four men and two women.
Police seized two kilograms of cocaine, a kilo of meth, several loaded firearms including a semi-automatic assault rifle, a pipe bomb and other bomb making materials.
RCMP also recovered stolen machinery from the property including a Bobcat excavator, several snowmobiles and ATV's.
The property has been the scene of a number of drug seizures in past years and made the news in 2005 when a woman perished in a fire.
Kelowna RCMP are expected to release more revealing details about another arrest made late Wednesday night dealing with this case.
