The Tournament Capital of Canada will be living up to its name in January 2021.
That's when the province's top curlers will converge on Kamloops for the 2021 BC Curling Championships. Men and women will be competing over the same week, Jan. 26 to Feb. 1.
Champions from the Kamloops event will go on to the 2021 editions of the Brier (in Kelowna) and Scotties Tournament of Hearts (in Thunder Bay).
It's a good time for the Kamloops curling scene. Currently Corryn Brown is leading a team from Kamloops at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw.
Jim Cotter, the reigning provincial champion, is due to return in 2021 to protect his crown.
“The decision to hold the 2021 BC Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships at the McArthur Island Sports Center was wonderful news for the McArthur Island Curling Club," says club manager Andrew McDiarmid. "We look forward to working with the Kamloops Curling Club, Curl BC, and the City of Kamloops to help host what is sure to be an exciting event!”
