Power was knocked out to a large area of the Westside early this morning after a semi crash in West Kelowna overnight.
Reader images sent to Castanet show an overturned semi, and DriveBC reports a collision on Highway 97 in the northbound lanes between Hoskins and Gellatly roads.
Readers report power went out about 3:45 a.m. and affected an area spanning from Westbank town centre to Smith Creek.
The incident closed down one lane of traffic.
Witness Cameron McPherson reports seeing the rig start to lean as it went into a corner, severing a light and telephone pole.
The semi toppled over, ripping a couple of tires off the trailer.
Police were nearby and responded immediately to the scene.
The driver was said to be conscious and responsive, and the officer assisted him to escape the wreck through the truck's front windshield.
The power outage is no longer shown on BC Hydro's outage map.
