Kelowna recognized as accessible and inclusive

Accessible and Inclusive

Kelowna has been recognized as an age-friendly accessible and inclusive community for seniors and people of all ages and abilities.

The recognition comes from the B.C. Ministry of Health, calling Kelowna a unique community, where not just seniors but people with a combination of ages and abilities can stay active, enjoy good health and connect with their community.

“Receiving this Provincial recognition reaffirms that everyone is welcome in Kelowna,” says Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran. “Through both Imagine Kelowna and Council Priorities, we have a vision of a community that provides opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and identities. This is a commendation of work done by City staff to date and priorities set, but we look forward to more work that makes Kelowna vibrant, inclusive and diverse.”

Along with Kelowna, nine other communities have been recognized as age-friendly including Cranbrook, Gibsons, Houston, Kelowna, Lake Cowichan, Nanaimo, Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Osoyoos, and Rossland.
