RCMP have confirmed that the cable to the Sea to Sky Gondola has been cut.
“The investigation to date has confirmed the preliminary assessment” reads a release from Squamish RCMP.
“Police have confirmed that the main cable was cut and that there are no other natural or mechanical reasons for the cable to have failed.”
The investigation into the Sea to Sky Gondola is active and ongoing.
Police are asking anyone with information to call a dedicated tip line at 604-892-6122 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
To preserve the integrity of the investigation, no further details were released.
Gondola spokesperson Christy Allan acknowledged that community has been rallying around the company.
Allan says the company is working to rebuild and is aiming to reopen next spring.
