Motorcycle crash claims life

A Vancouver man is dead after a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 3 near Princeton last week.

Cpl. Mike Halskov says emergency crews were called to the crash near Whipsaw Creek, west of town, at about 7:25 p.m. Friday.

“Upon arrival it was determined that an eastbound motorcycle, being operated by a 50-year-old man from the Vancouver area, lost control on a sharp curve, crossed the centre line and collided in a side-swipe fashion with a west bound pickup truck,” Halskov said.

“The motorcycle rider was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene from catastrophic injuries.”

RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services and the BC Coroners’ Service are continuing the investigation. Police are seeking to speak with anyone that may have information on the crash, especially regarding the driving pattern of the Hayabusa motorcycle (similar to photo) prior to the collision.

This is the fourth fatal motorcycle crash in the South Okanagan-Similkameen in the past two months.
