Falcons swept at home

The Kelowna Falcons clawed their way back from a large deficit but couldn’t complete the comeback as they fell by an 11-8 score on Thursday night at Elks Stadium to conclude their three-game series.

Wyatt Hummel made his first start of the season for the Falcons and it started on a rocky note, surrendering a single and walking a pair to load the bases before a wild pitch allowed Kodie Kolden to score the game’s opening run and give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Wenatchee extended their lead when Blake Klassen picked up his second RBI of the game with a double to left field to bring home another Wenatchee run as the AppleSox took a commanding 6-1 lead after an inning and a half.

Kelowna would pressure again in the 9th, loading the bases with an RBI fielder’s choice from Bradley Norton would be as close as the Falcons would come as they battled back but fell by an 11-8 score.

The Falcons head back out on the road for the start of three-game series against the Port Angeles Lefties beginning on Friday night. First pitch comes at 6:35 p.m. from Civic Field.
