Wildfire being held

UPDATE 10:50 a.m.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says a total of six crew members attacked the Atsiklak Creek fire overnight. 

Two people are currently on site managing the blaze, which is now classified as “held,” meaning it is not expected to grow any further.

The fire's size estimate has been bumped down to a half a hectare. 

More resources will arrive later today, bringing the total number of firefighters assigned to the incident Monday to eight.

The cause of the blaze remains undetermined.


ORIGINAL 10 a.m.

There is a small wildfire burning on the north end of the Osoyoos Indian Band reserve. 

The Oliver Fire Department said in a Facebook post overnight that B.C. Wildfire crews were on scene and setting up a fire guard. 

The Atsiklak Creek fire is estimated to be 0.8 hectares and was discovered Sunday.
