New economic dev officer

The City of Penticton has hired a new economic development specialist. 

Andrew Kemp comes to the city from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, where he assisted with municipal infrastructure initiatives across Canada. Prior to that he worked with the economic development consulting firm, MDB Insight, and for the economic development department of the County of Huron, Ontario. 

He started his role, reporting to the director of development services Anthony Haddad, on June 17. 

He replaces Jennifer Vincent, who has decided to move to a part-time role with the city. 

“The city is excited to have Andrew on board, his experience and skillset is well suited to leading the implementation of the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan and joining the Development Services Management team,” said Haddad.

Kemp holds a Masters in economic development from the University of Waterloo. He also worked in the financial services sector for ten years prior to starting in economic development, and spent a year in Kenya supporting strategic sector investment initiatives for the Kenyan government.
