Five-foot snake on the loose

Buddy, a five-foot-long snake, escaped from his home in Rutland Monday night, and he's been missing ever since.

His family says he was last seen at about 9:30 p.m. in their truck off Woods Road.

“We were camping all weekend and when my boyfriend got home he fell asleep and Buddy was in his truck,” said Dede Schmid.

Buddy is about two inches thick, with red and black skin on his back, making him appear more of an orange colour.

“He’s never bit anyone in his life. He is super, super gentle,” said Schmid.

The family has been searching every night after work for Buddy and they think he might be near Ziprick Road or around the Costco Wholesale.

“We just want him to come home,” she said. “If you see him, can you please catch him or call me right away.”

A cash reward is being offered for anyone who can bring Buddy home alive. Schmid can be reached at 250-878-9497.
