Busy 'Seniors Week' coming

A variety of activities are on deck for Penticton’s first-ever Seniors Week celebration, running from June 1 to 8.

“Penticton’s seniors have made significant contributions and give so much to our community” said Mignonne Wood, vice president of the Penticton Seniors Drop-In Centre.

“We’ve put together a very busy week that gives all seniors a chance to dance, learn, socialize, laugh, pick up a few health tips, tap their toes to the music and enjoy the special events organized just for them. Get out and explore, learn and play.”

Things kick off on June 1 with a 25th anniversary celebration at the Seniors Drop-In Centre, where there will be music, dancing, displays, yoga, bocce, food and other activities for the whole family.

On June 3, sleep expert Dr. Ron Cridland will speak about the critical importance of sleep to healthy aging at OK College rom 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Other events include lectures on wills and estates, home sharing and phone scams, recreational activities, talks on local history, dance parties and more.

Things wrap up June 8 with a closing celebration in Gyro Park featuring local dignitaries, a giant cupcake cake and music from Rebel Luv.
