Head-on crash kills one

UPDATE 5:40 p.m.

DriveBC says Highway 3 at Sunday Summit has reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.


UPDATE 5:15 p.m.

RCMP have confirmed one person is dead after a fatal crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 3 near Sunday Summit, south of Princeton.

Officers were called to the head-on crash between a van and car at about 2:45 p.m. One person is confirmed deceased.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation and nothing has been ruled out,” Cpl. Mike Halskov said. “The highway will remain closed while police investigate.”

There is currently no detour available around the crash.


ORIGINAL 3:55 p.m.

Highway 3 is closed south of Princeton due to a motor vehicle incident.

The highway is closed between Copper Mountain and Eastgate, according to DriveBC.

There is no estimated time of reopening and there is no detour available.
