How high can it go?

Spiking gas prices hit a new record high in Metro Vancouver on Saturday.

Most stations in the region are now charging 172.9 cents a litre, CTV News reports.

It's the most recent in a series of price increases that have set new records this spring.

Price-watching website gasbuddy.com shows a few stations are still in the 160s, however.

Pump prices typically jump for long weekends, when demand is higher as more people are on the road.

Meanwhile, most stations in Kelowna are at 139.9 a litre, and 140.9 cents in Vernon, with the best deals in Penticton at 137.9.
