Local mail thief back at it?

A woman who spent months in jail for breaking into several Okanagan mail boxes in 2016 and 2017 is back behind bars, after she allegedly went back to her old ways.

Kristina Anderson was arrested in December 2017, along with her boyfriend at the time, Julian Hoekstra. When they were arrested, the couple were living in a stolen $37,000 RV above Peachland, at the end of Trepanier Road. In court, Anderson's lawyer described them as “a kind of Bonnie and Clyde scenario.”

In March of 2018, Anderson pleaded guilty to five of the charges she faced, including theft of mail and possession of the stolen RV, and she was sentenced to a year in jail, minus the time she had already served. Hoekstra was given a similar sentence when he pleaded guilty just a few weeks later.

During Anderson's sentencing, her lawyer told the court that Anderson and Hoekstra were no longer together.

She has since been released from custody, but her time out of custody didn't last long.

On Dec. 8, 2018, Anderson was arrested in Abbotsford and charged with driving while prohibited, possessing someone else's ID without a lawful excuse and breaching her probation.

Anderson was released on bail the following day, and the Crown has since dropped the breach of probation charge, but earlier this month she was arrested in Abbotsford once again.

On April 10, she was charged with possessing a stolen card, resisting arrest, breaching her bail conditions and once again, driving while prohibited.

She remains in custody, and her next court date is scheduled in Abbotsford for April 24.

Hoekstra, meanwhile, is also back before the courts, after he was charged with possession of a controlled substance in January, stemming from an October incident in Kelowna.

He's expected to appear in Kelowna court next week.
