Over $200,000 of damage

UPDATE 7:10 a.m.

An apartment fire in the 200 block of Hebert Road in West Kelowna Friday night has caused over $200,000 worth of damage. 

At approximately 7:45 p.m. West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to a reported apartment fire in the 2000 Block of Hebert Road in West Kelowna.

First arriving crews reported heavy smoke and flames through the roof of the 15 unit townhouse complex and requested a second alarm for a working structure fire.

A total of six engines, a ladder truck, a command unit and two safeties responded to the fire, while additional  units were called in to cover Westbank and Glenrosa.

Three of the 15 units were heavily damaged by fire, with several others suffering smoke and water damage. All of the units were evacuated.

The residents are now in the care of Regional Emergency Support Services. 

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

West Kelowna fire crews remain on the scene of a fire at an apartment building at 2585 Hebert Road.

Crews arrived just a after 8 p.m. to find  flames visible. 

A witness on scene says the fire reportedly started in the basement. 

At this time it's unclear how many units have been affected. 

Everyone home at the time was able to escape the building without injury. 

The fire has since been extinguished and RCMP are investigating.
