Report leads cops to crooks

A resident who reported suspicious activity in East Kelowna helped police nab two stolen property suspects.

Just after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a report about a suspicious person associated to an unfamiliar vehicle on East Kelowna Road.

Officers found and stopped the black Jeep Cherokee, which had stolen plates, on nearby Fisher Road.

The driver was taken into custody, and investigators found stolen property inside the vehicle, which they believe is tied to a recent break and enter in the area.

“A second male suspect was also located by police on foot along East Kelowna Road,” says RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “This man was in possession of a jerry can, filled with suspected stolen fuel. RCMP have reason to believe the two men were working together.”

Stefen Rasmussen, 25, and Christopher Brazeau, 38, each of Kelowna, are charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Rasmussen has also been charged with breach of probation and driving while disqualified.
