Quail loses 18th hole

Kelowna's Quail golf course will be undergoing some changes.

The course will lose its 18th hole to make way for a 23-unit multi-family development.

"The golf course manager is in the process of relocating and reconfiguring their greens to accommodate the 18th hole in a different configuration," says city planner Terry Barton.

While the development will sit on lands currently occupied by the golf course, Barton says it is not located in the Agricultural Land Reserve.

The remainder of the golf course is part of the ALR.

The proposed development, if approved after a public hearing, is expected to include a number of small row housing and townhouse-type buildings.

"It is compatible with the area," Barton told council.

"A number of apartment buildings and multi-family developments are in the area. This would add to the village-like character."

If approved, a development permit would still need to come before council.

There is no time frame as to when construction may begin.
