Hit-and-run victim in ditch

A woman was found unconscious in a ditch after a driver hit her with their vehicle and drove off.

She was left suffering for almost an hour before a security guard found her at about 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say the woman has several broken bones and is recovering at Kelowna General Hospital. Investigators are now asking the public to come forward with any video footage or information.

Police were called on Monday after the woman, who was found severely injured, was brought to the hospital on Sunday.

“Through the course of our investigation, it’s believed that the woman was hit by a vehicle and landed unconscious in a ditch near the corner of Ethel Street and Lawson Avenue,” said Cpl. Tania Carroll. "She may have walked to this location from Bernard Avenue, sometime after 8:10 p.m."

“The vehicle that struck this woman will have damage and it should be quite evident that this vehicle came into contact with an object or a person,” said Carroll.

If you were the driver of this vehicle or know anything, you are urged to contact Const. Katherine Link at 250-762-3300.
