Get ready, tech geeks

It's the moment tech geeks have been waiting for.

Okanagan Regional Library is officially opening the doors to its new Westside Learning Lab on Saturday.

Everyone is welcome to come and explore the space, have a slice of cake, enjoy some entertainment and take part in demos of trending new technology.

There will be activities for all ages to explore 3D printing, try out the green screen, record audio, create unique takeaways and more.

The focus of the new location is on learning, technology, and community partnership.

The Westside Learning Lab will feature bookable community space and meeting rooms for events, programs and gatherings. A key component of the lab will be a "maker space" that will enable people to learn and use technologies related to 3D printing, material design, crafting, coding, robotics, and electronics.

A sound booth will also be available for recording audio projects such as family stories, practising on musical instruments, recording podcasts and conducting online interviews.

The location will feature a small collection of materials and, just like any other ORL branch, all library users will be able to pick up holds and return books at the location.
