Good Food Box IPE choice

The Good Food Box is the IPE charity of choice for 2019.

Every year, the Armstrong Interior Provincial Exhibition selects a charity to support during the annual fair in Armstrong.

“We are proud to announce the charity of choice for the 120th IPE is the Good Food Box,” said Yvonne Paulson, IPE general manager. “They are a non-profit society working with local social agencies to provide produce to those in need in a social sustainable model. They have been helping residents of the North Okanagan access affordable, healthy food for 18 years.”

Donna Antonishak, president of the Good Food Box North Okanagan, is thrilled to be the charity of choice for the IPE’s 120th year.

The program promotes healthy eating by providing fresh fruit and vegetables at a reduced cost.

They also buy local whenever possible.

The Good Food Box has approximately 60 volunteers serving a large area of the North Okanagan: Vernon, Lumby, Westside, Cherryville, Armstrong and Falkland.

They serve and assist those who find it difficult to afford, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as community supporters who appreciate lower cost fruits and vegetables and help them keep their buying pool big enough that they can keep their purchasing costs low.

Many families rely on the Good Food Box to stretch their grocery dollars to the end of the month.
